Access control

Control who gets in, and when.

Access control replaces keys with credentials you can add, change or remove at any time. Doors and gates open for the right people at the right hours, and the system keeps a log of each credential used. ITS installs access control for offices, commercial buildings, high-rise residences and estates, and ties it into the cameras so you can see who is at the door.

What it includes

Designed around how you live.

Each system is planned with you, itemized in the proposal, and supported by ITS after turnover.

Doors and gates

Controlled entry for front doors, suites, back-of-house doors, parking and driveway gates.

Credentials, not keys

Cards, fobs, keypads or a phone, depending on the system. A lost credential is turned off, so no locks need to be changed.

Schedules and records

Doors can unlock on a schedule and stay locked after hours, and the system logs each credential used.

Video at the entry

Cameras and video entry stations at doors and gates let you see who is there. In homes, locks and gates also run from the Control4 app.

How we work

Five clear steps.

How an access control project moves from the drawings to the first credential.

STEP 01

Plan review

We review the drawings and place every controlled door, reader, camera and gate on the plans.

STEP 02

Proposal

You receive an itemized proposal, with a clear division of work with the door supplier and the electrician.

STEP 03

Rough-in

Cabling to each controlled door, reader and camera is run and labeled before the walls close, or routed through existing paths in a finished building.

STEP 04

Trim-out and programming

Readers, locks and cameras go in after paint, then credentials, schedules and door settings are programmed and tested.

STEP 05

Hand-off and support

Training on adding and removing credentials, written documentation, and one number to call for service.

Questions

Common questions.

If your question is not here, call 786.266.7676 and we will answer it directly.

What is an access control system?

It is a system that decides which doors and gates open for which people and at what times, using credentials such as cards, fobs, keypad codes or a phone instead of keys. It also keeps a log of each credential used.

Does ITS install access control for businesses?

Yes. ITS installs access control, cameras and structured cabling for offices, commercial buildings, sales centers and high-rise residential buildings.

Can access control be added to a home?

Yes. In homes, smart door locks, gates and video entry can be tied into Control4, so you can let someone in and see the entry from your phone.

Can access control work with the cameras?

Yes. ITS plans access control and cameras together, so the doors and gates that matter are covered by video.

When should access control be planned on a new building?

During design and before drywall. Door hardware, power and cabling to each controlled door are coordinated with the door supplier, the electrician and the GC.
